Desert

Chair

Lounge chair with Modernist steel structure and fabric seat.

by Ferm Living

Why is it sustainable?

Desert is a sustainable lounge chair whose seat is made upcycling plastic bottles. In particular, it takes 55 PET bottles to make the fabric for one single chair. This is a good example of circular design that – besides contributing to fight plastic pollution – shows the potential of waste in the production of beautiful and sustainable interior design pieces.

Ferm Living strives to embrace sustainable development throughout the entire supply chain.
Suppliers are based in the regions where their raw material is sourced, to lower the impact of manufacturing.
Products are designed with disassembly in mind – making it easier to recycle materials.
Most of the packaging is made of cardboard, paper pulp and kraft paper, and Ferm Living is working on eliminating all plastic-based packaging (mainly bags and styrofoam).
An annual, privately held stock sale allows reducing unsold stock, and all leftover items are donated to the Red Cross or other NGO’s.
