Why is it sustainable?
The Nepal coffee table is made of recycled cork. Cork is one of the first options when it comes to sustainable natural materials. It is harvested from the outer bark of the cork oak with a process that does not damage the tree, which can regenerate allowing a new cork extraction after around 10 years. Also, it has a very long life and can be used in multiple production cycles, representing an ideal option to embrace a circular economy model.
In order to raise awareness of the importance of proper recycling, Greencorks has also started a sustainability program with Italian schools, that encourages them to start collecting cork stoppers and – in exchange for those – gives away coupons for the purchase of teaching material.
