Ubu

Chair

Chair made of wood and a discarded textiles composite.

by Planq

Why is it sustainable?

Ubu is a chair that repurposes textile waste.
Its back and seat are made mixing discarded textiles with a biodegradable binder coming from potato or corn starch. The result, named PlanqTextile, is a material with an interesting marbled colour given by the raw material: green from old army clothes, blue from jeans and the royal Dutch airline uniforms, beige from coffee bags and so on.
By turning waste into beautiful furniture, PlanqTextile proves that the transition from discarded to high-end is well possible!

The structure of this chair is made with FSC-certified wood and comes in oak or walnut.
Planq also supports One Tree Planted and plants trees for every chair/table sold.

Fully embracing a circular economy mindset, Planq also offers a furniture rent service for both single events and longer periods.
