Why is it sustainable?
Linn is a coffee table made with recycled tights.
Swedish Stockings is a company that makes tights with pre and post-consumer nylon waste.
Through its recycling program, Swedish Stockings collects old tights from any brand. Making new tights from old ones is not yet an option, because the technology to separate the fibres (polyamide from elastane) is not commercially available.
In order to still give a new life to old tights, Swedish Stockings is making furniture, mixing them with recycled fibreglass with a manual process.
The same material is also used to manufacture oil & grease traps for commercial use (namely, tanks that are used to separate grease from water in commercial environments like restaurants or gas stations).
