Anima
Plate

Why is it sustainable?
The Anima tableware is made out of food waste and is a great example of how the design industry can upcycle food waste into new products. Vegetable waste is burnt until it becomes charcoal, while animal bones and skin are boiled, creating a glue-like paste that is used to mould the charcoal. Urushi – a traditional Japanese lacquer – is added at the end to provide additional strength and a shiny finish.
