Provence Platter
Tray

by Provence Platters
Why is it sustainable?
Provence Platter is a tray made recycling wood from disassembled oak wine barrels salvaged from caves in France and California.
After four wine seasons, oak barrels lose their ability to release scents to wine. This is when they’re purchased by Provence Platter and turned into trays.
To treasure and highlight the first life of this wood, its identification marks are preserved. This includes barrels producers names and the "LT," "MT" or “HT” labels, that indicate the degree of wood toasting (which gives different flavours to the wine). Also, wine stains are often still visible on the back of the platters.
Trays are then coated with food-safe beeswax and the iron handles are forged by hand in Provence Platter workshop in Brooklyn.
